We're just getting ready to launch a new app that helps people make better real world introductions and we'd love some help from venues!
Attracted is a new app designed to help people connect with others around them in a safe and privacy-friendly way that works with social distancing. Our goal is to use tech to bridge the gap between the online world and the real world to allow people to connect without worrying about awkward rejections or unwanted advances.
Imagine you're a customer sat at a table and you see someone a couple of tables down, someone you can't take your eyes off. What do you do? Ideally, you go up to them and lay down your smoothest pickup lines, but... what if there's social distancing in action, or you're just too anxious from the thought of that awkward walk back to your table if you get rejected, or what if it might be seen as harassment.
With Attracted it's easy. All you need to do is pick up your phone, find the person from the list of people around you, and ask to connect. The other person can then accept if they're interested, or ignore if they're not. You will very quickly know if the attraction is mutual. You can then get back to real world flirting with newfound confidence, knowing that you have approval to approach.
Although this is a consumer facing app, there are a number of benefits to venues:
Giving people an easier way to make positive connections leads to a more enjoyable experience and a more memorable night. Our user research has found that negative interactions with other people is one of the biggest reasons for choosing not to visit a bar/club again.
Our studies have shown that the embarrassment around rejections is one of major causes of fights in nightclubs by teens and young adults.
The distanced interactions which Attracted allows for, helps people feel more comfortable and reduces the chances of unwanted advances.
As well as being location based, Attracted has the option to restrict who can see you to only people with the unique code for that event.
This way of making introductions helps adherence to social distancing.
We have plans to build a number of features that will further allow venues to benefit from their patrons who use the app.
Our plan is to launch publicly during freshers week in Sheffield and we would love to have a chat to get your thoughts/feedback.
